How to Read Consensus Edge on the Week Board
Positive edge doesn't always mean 'start them.' Learn how FFOptimizer compares model q50 to consensus and when to trust the gap.

On every Week projections row you'll see consensus edge: model median (q50) minus the composed consensus projection.
What a large positive edge means
The model likes this player relative to the market. Common drivers:
- Recent volume (targets / carries) that consensus hasn't fully priced
- Role stability that efficiency-chasers underrate
- Matchup-adjusted opportunity after defense features (v0.7)
What a large negative edge means
Often not an automatic fade. Large gaps on locked-in stars can reflect different views of ceiling vs. a calmer volume-first median. Prefer rank order and the opportunity story over treating absolute points as gospel — especially for elite names where the market prices more upside.
Practical workflow
- Filter the week board to your position.
- Sort by edge for upside candidates.
- Click through to player detail (when available) and check rankings.
- Confirm no injury role change in Articles → Injury / News Recap.
Edge is a lens, not a lineup autopilot.
